CHOOSING TO BELIEVE
(Inspired by “Believe” performed by Blessing Offer)

The song “Believe” asks the hard question: Do we love God for who He is or for what He gives? Its lyrics wrestle with the reality that faith must go deeper than answered prayers and smooth circumstances. True belief clings to God’s love even when life does not turn out as expected.

Every believer faces moments when God’s will collides with personal desires. Disappointments come, prayers seem unanswered, and doors close. It is in these moments that faith is tested. The question becomes: is God still good, even when life is not?

Habakkuk 3:17–18 provides an answer: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Faith that rejoices in God despite loss is the kind of faith that honors Him most.

The song challenges Christians to examine their hearts: Do we want God, or only what He can do for us? Real love for God delights in Him above blessings, trusting that His wisdom is greater than ours.

“Believe” becomes more than a song—it is a prayer of surrender. It is the decision to trust God’s character above circumstances and to declare that His love alone is enough.

PRAYER
Father, help me to believe in Your love even when I do not see the answers I want. Teach me to trust Your heart above my own desires.

APPLICATION
When facing disappointment, choose to declare God’s goodness out loud as an act of faith, even before circumstances change.
