CHRIST OUR EVERYTHING
(Inspired by “You Are My All in All” performed by Dennis Jernigan)
The song “You Are My All in All” beautifully declares the sufficiency of Christ in every circumstance. When Dennis Jernigan wrote these words, he captured a timeless truth: Jesus is not simply a helper in weakness, but the very treasure and source of strength. The lyrics remind us that life’s trials and triumphs find their center in Him, not in human striving.
In a culture that often values self-sufficiency, this song redirects the believer’s gaze to the One who alone sustains. The words, “When I fall down You pick me up, when I am dry You fill my cup,” speak of a God who never abandons His children. They echo the promises of Scripture that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and provides living water to those who thirst.
The apostle Paul’s testimony in 2 Corinthians 12 reminds us that God’s power is made perfect in weakness. Instead of resenting limitations, Christians can rejoice that Christ’s grace is more than enough. Failures and frailties become platforms for His glory when believers surrender fully to His strength. This transforms daily life—family, work, and relationships—into opportunities to magnify His worth.
Choosing Christ as all in all does not happen by default; it is a daily act of worship and trust. Each challenge faced can either draw hearts inward to self or outward to the Savior. The song invites a response of worship: “Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is Your name.” This confession is not merely sung but lived when hearts find satisfaction in Him above all else.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for being strength and portion. Teach hearts to lean on Your power rather than their own, and to live each day declaring Your worth. Amen.
