TRUSTING THE GOD WHO CANNOT BE CONTAINED
(Inspired by “Big God” performed by Terrian)
When Terrian sings about a “Big God,” she’s not talking about wishful thinking or blind optimism. She’s proclaiming the truth that has anchored believers for generations—the God who created the universe is personal, powerful, and present. The song is an anthem for anyone standing against impossible odds, reminding us that the size of our challenges is nothing compared to the greatness of our God.
The lyrics echo the courage of David facing Goliath: “Under fire, but my Goliaths standing in the shadow of the Almighty.” When believers feel surrounded by fear or opposition, faith looks beyond the immediate to the infinite. Psalm 91:1 declares, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” To live in that truth is to recognize that no threat, diagnosis, or circumstance is beyond His reach.
Terrian’s words call us to shift perspective—from focusing on what seems overwhelming to worshiping the One who overcomes. Worship becomes warfare when we declare God’s greatness in the face of fear. Every raised hand, every word of praise, is a statement of faith: that God’s strength outweighs human limitation. As the song celebrates, “Only remedy for big odds is a big God.”
The believer’s confidence doesn’t come from control, but from surrender. The bigger the storm, the greater the opportunity to trust the Lord who calms it. A “Big God” faith doesn’t minimize pain—it magnifies God’s power in the middle of it. When fear whispers that the battle is lost, grace replies that victory belongs to the Lord. He’s not intimidated by what intimidates us; He’s already triumphed.
