This Is The Kingdom

SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM
(Inspired by “This Is The Kingdom” performed by Elevation Worship)

At the heart of Elevation Worship’s “This Is The Kingdom” lies one of Jesus’ most revolutionary teachings—the Beatitudes. Each line echoes Matthew 5, where Christ redefines what it means to be blessed. Rather than linking blessing to comfort or success, He connects it to humility, mercy, righteousness, and dependence on God. The song invites believers to trade worldly ambition for kingdom priorities, reminding us that true fulfillment comes not from striving, but from surrender.

Repeatedly, the song declares, “Seek first the Kingdom, and all will be added.” These words draw directly from Matthew 6:33, where Jesus calls His followers to reorder their lives around the things of God. In a culture that chases wealth, fame, and control, this command remains radically countercultural. To seek first the Kingdom is to trust that God’s rule is enough—that obedience will yield provision, peace, and purpose beyond what the world can offer.

When we live by kingdom values, we begin to see life through the lens of eternity. The poor in spirit become heirs of heaven, and the mourners find comfort in the arms of the Father. Those who hunger for righteousness find satisfaction, not through self-achievement, but through the sustaining grace of Christ. In every circumstance, God promises that those who seek Him wholeheartedly will never be empty-handed.

This song is both a reminder and a roadmap. The kingdom of God is not some far-off reality—it is here, breaking through in hearts that choose faith over fear and service over self. As we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, everything else falls into its rightful place. To seek His Kingdom first is to find that all we need has already been given in Him.

PRAYER
Lord, thank You for teaching that true blessing is found in Your Kingdom. Help me seek You above all else, trusting that as I do, You will provide everything I need for this life and the next.

APPLICATION
Focus today on one kingdom value—humility, mercy, or righteousness—and practice it intentionally as an act of worship to God.
