SEEING THROUGH GOD’S EYES
(Inspired by “Love Who I Am” performed by Allison Eide)
Allison Eide’s “Love Who I Am” voices the struggle many believers face in a world obsessed with image and approval. Her words reveal a longing to see oneself through the eyes of the Creator rather than through the distorted mirrors of human opinion. In a culture that equates worth with performance, appearance, or popularity, this song calls Christians back to the truth that identity begins in God’s authorship. He alone defines who we are, and His pen writes a story of grace, not comparison.
Scripture reminds believers that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Yet many still wrestle with feelings of inadequacy, measuring themselves against standards that shift with every trend. The gospel redefines value entirely: our worth is anchored in Christ’s finished work, not our fragile self-image. When the heart learns to rest in His authorship, shame loses its grip. God’s narrative declares that each person is a masterpiece of His mercy—redeemed, chosen, and loved. Every imperfection becomes a brushstroke in His greater design.
Learning to love who God says we are is not vanity; it’s worship. When followers of Christ embrace their God-given identity, they honor the One who created them. The enemy seeks to distort that reflection, whispering lies of unworthiness and self-hate. But the cross silences those accusations forever. Believers can look in the mirror and see not failure, but forgiveness; not flaws, but formation. To love who you are in Christ is to agree with heaven’s declaration: You are His workmanship, created for good works, designed for His glory.
