SEEN BY HEAVEN
(Inspired by “In Heaven’s Eyes” performed by Sandi Patty)
The lyrics of “In Heaven’s Eyes” remind us of a truth we desperately need in a culture obsessed with performance and success: “In heaven’s eyes there are no losers, in heaven’s eyes no hopeless cause.” How different this is from how the world measures worth. Earthly systems elevate power, wealth, and fame, but heaven looks at the heart.
God does not categorize people by their failures, appearance, or earthly achievements. He sees the orphan, the wayward, the homeless traveler, and the weary soul as infinitely valuable. Scripture confirms this perspective in 1 Samuel 16:7: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” What the world dismisses as insignificant, God treasures.
This perspective can radically reshape how Christians live and relate to others. When we embrace heaven’s eyes, we begin to see people not as problems to fix or projects to manage but as beloved souls made in God’s image. The overlooked co-worker, the classmate no one talks to, or the neighbor struggling silently are not invisible to God. His compassion burns like fire for each one.
Believers are called to reflect this vision. To follow Christ means to step into His pattern of love—seeking out the forgotten, extending grace to the broken, and valuing each person as God does. In doing so, our witness becomes more than words; it becomes a living picture of heaven’s gaze.
PRAYER
Lord, help me see others as You see them. Give me Your compassion for the overlooked and Your patience for the brokenhearted. May my life reflect the truth that every person matters to You.
APPLICATION
Look for one person today who is often ignored or undervalued and show them Christlike kindness.
