Resurrecting

THE POWER THAT RAISES THE BROKEN
(Inspired by “Resurrecting” performed by Elevation Worship)

Elevation Worship’s “Resurrecting” proclaims the unstoppable victory of Christ—a victory that doesn’t just belong to history but transforms believers today. The song opens with awe: “The head that once was crowned with thorns is crowned with glory now.” It bridges the suffering of the cross to the splendor of resurrection, declaring that the Savior who stooped to wash feet now reigns with majesty. Every lyric is a testimony that the risen Christ is not distant or symbolic—He is active, alive, and still raising hearts from defeat to life.

The line “By Your Spirit I will rise from the ashes of defeat” captures the essence of Romans 8:11: “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.” This is not metaphor; it’s promise. The same Spirit that broke death’s hold over Jesus now empowers believers to overcome sin, shame, and despair. Resurrection is not just the ending of Christ’s story—it’s the pattern of ours.

Every believer faces seasons when faith feels buried under fear or exhaustion. Yet resurrection power is not confined to Easter morning. It pulses through every moment when despair gives way to hope, when forgiveness replaces bitterness, when worship rises from weakness. The tomb was borrowed, but victory is permanent—and it belongs to everyone who calls on His name.

As the song declares, “In Your name I come alive to declare Your victory.” That is the calling of every redeemed life: to rise, to testify, to proclaim. The resurrection was not just Christ’s triumph—it is the believer’s daily renewal. Through His Spirit, defeat is never final, and brokenness becomes a doorway to glory.

Lord Jesus, thank You that Your victory is alive in me. Raise my heart by Your Spirit wherever defeat has tried to take hold, and let my life declare that You have overcome.

APPLICATION
When discouragement sets in, speak the truth of Romans 8:11—remember that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in you.
