ONLY YOU ARE HOLY
(Inspired by “Holy” performed by Nichole Nordeman)

The song “Holy” draws us into a posture of surrender—where striving ends and worship begins. Every lyric invites believers to consider how many roads were traveled, dreams chased, and false hopes followed before realizing that fulfillment is not found in achievement but in adoration. It is the moment when faith finally whispers, “Enough searching. Be still.” Holiness is not a distant mystery; it’s the unveiled presence of God meeting a humbled heart.

So many of life’s pursuits begin with good intentions but end in exhaustion. Career goals, relationships, possessions—all can leave an echo of emptiness when detached from the One who alone satisfies. The song’s repetition of “holy, holy” mirrors the eternal worship scene of Revelation 4, where heavenly beings never tire of proclaiming God’s glory. That same rhythm of awe should pulse through daily life, reminding Christians that holiness is not something achieved—it’s Someone encountered.

The prophet Isaiah experienced this when he stood before the throne and cried, “Woe to me! I am ruined!” (Isaiah 6:5, NIV). In that instant, he realized holiness exposes sin but also extends mercy. God’s response was not condemnation but cleansing. The coal from the altar touched his lips, symbolizing grace that transforms weakness into worship. Likewise, when believers kneel in humility, they rise in holiness—not self-made, but Spirit-breathed.

Worship then becomes more than singing; it becomes living—every task, every conversation, every choice shaped by reverence. The cry of “You are holy” silences anxiety, dethrones pride, and centers the soul on the character of God. The more we see His holiness, the more we are changed by it. What once seemed ordinary becomes sacred when seen through the eyes of worship.
