FREEDOM IN OUR FATHER’S ARMS
(Inspired by “No Longer Slaves” performed by Bethel Music)
Few declarations in worship carry as much power as the words, “I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.” This song beautifully captures the gospel’s central promise—freedom through adoption. Through faith in Christ, believers are not just forgiven; they are reborn into God’s family, delivered from fear, and secured by His perfect love.
Fear is a natural human reaction, but it’s no longer our master. The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:15 that we have “received the Spirit of adoption to sonship.” This means the Christian no longer lives under the bondage of guilt, shame, or insecurity. The chains that once defined us have been replaced by the Father’s embrace. His song of deliverance drowns out every voice that once whispered defeat.
When the song proclaims, “You split the sea so I could walk right through it,” it calls back to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt—a powerful image of God’s protection and provision. Just as the Red Sea stood between Israel and freedom, sin once stood between humanity and God. But Christ, our Deliverer, has made a way where none existed, turning fear into faith and despair into praise.
To live as a child of God is to walk in the freedom already secured through Jesus. Each day presents a choice: to live as slaves to fear or sons and daughters of grace. The more we rest in the Father’s love, the louder our hearts echo the song of liberation—“I am surrounded by the arms of the Father.” True freedom isn’t the absence of struggle; it’s the presence of perfect love that casts out fear.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family and setting me free from fear. Help me live each day confident in Your love and bold in Your truth. Let my life be a testimony of freedom found in Your arms.
APPLICATION
Whenever fear rises, declare your identity aloud: “I am a child of God.” Let that truth silence every lie and restore your peace.
